  FAQ: Does Acupuncture Hurt?

In our clinics, we use the smallest needle possible to ensure that acupuncture treatments are not painful. We also apply techniques when inserting the needle to confuse the brain. For example, we might apply pressure with our fingers before inserting the needle. The patient feels the finger more than they feel the needle. Many patients report that they do not feel any sensation after the needles have been inserted.

Most people have a fear of needles, and rightfully so. They have it since childhood, but the needles used by doctors/nurses are not the same used in acupuncture clinics. They are much finer. After your first treatment, we are confident that you will feel the same.
